Dallas and Our Prayers- CrossThoughts

In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry came before Him, even to His ears. Psalm 18:6

Hello CrossFamily,
My heart really broke when I heard about the devastating news of the sniper murders in Dallas. It is a very painful and lonely time for the families and friends of the police officers and bystanders that were killed or injured in Dallas.
We are at a time in our country where we obviously need to pray. Cross Church Family, Let’s call upon and cry out to God. Let’s Pray for the God of comfort to comfort those families and friends of those that were murdered, Let’s Pray for our country to have peace, let’s pray for our leaders to have wisdom and courage, and let’s pray for our authorities to be protected from more attacks. Please ask God to intercede and to bring a holy spirit conviction to those who come to the mistaken conclusion that killing police officers is their right, their duty and somehow they feel it was ‘just’. I was sick to my stomach to read various tweets and posts that claimed it was a ‘great thing’ to see ‘the pigs’ getting killed. Wow…CrossFamily, we really need to pray. Obviously, the indiscriminate, calculating taking of any precious life is not, nor ever will be considered to be just. God loves people, which is made abundantly clear by the incomprehensible love and sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross. He knows our days and the bible says that He has fashioned our days and written them in a book. He knew that this day would happen, that lives would be taken and yet He allows it, because He does not force us to obey His voice. He gives us free reign over our choices, and because of that, He can never be accused of forcing us to love and obey Him. I am sure that like us, all of the families of the victims wish that God would have forced His will and stopped those murderers from killing their relative in these Dallas attacks. But, we live in a fallen world and sin, evil and our freedom to choose, live on. It does not change the fact that God deeply loves man. No, it just exposes sin, hatred and the work of satan, the enemy of God and the church. The enemy is out to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10) and he is doing a good job of it. Many homes were completely destroyed by these murderers in a matter of minutes. We need to pray for our God who sits on the throne to please open the eyes of those planning other attacks to understand and to know the love, forgiveness and compassion found in Jesus. Let’s pray that they would be saved and find hope and love of Jesus Christ. Let’s pray also that our God would protect all of the men in blue across our land as they continue to protect our cities, our communities, and our nation. And finally, Let’s pray together for God to create a spiritual awakening in our country.
‘There has never been a spiritual awakening in any country or locality that did not begin in united prayer.’ ~
